Ba Gua Zhang

One of the big three internal martial arts of China, the other two being Hsing I and Tai Chi.

The art is characterized by its coiling and twisting action. Good for health and self defense, this art while challenging can offer its practitioners a glimpse into the philosophy of the I Ching.

It was known as the art of the Chinese bodyguard, and there are many legends surrounding the martial prowess of the practitioners of this highly Daoist art.

It was designed to combat up to eight opponents at once and Renshi Allen is one of only a handful of teachers of Ba Gua in the United States.

Practitioners of this art are known in China for their longevity, no doubt due to the art’s ability to strengthen the muscles of the back and spine.
