Shorin Ryu Matsumura Sokendo Karate This is the style of karate originally founded by the famous Bushi Matsumura, the historical founder of all Okinawan karate. Bushi taught his grandson Nabe, who in turn taught his nephew Hohan Soken. Hohan Soken taught Soke Dave Shelton, and Soke Dave taught Renshi Allen. This art is closest in style to Fukien White Crane, but nevertheless different from that style in many aspects. This style is perfect for fitness and self defense, its major tenet learning to control both the hard and the soft. The study of this art gives men as well as women a great vehicle to build self confidence, physical endurance, and a peaceful mind. Taught in a traditional dojo environment, the study of this ancient and noble art is a great way to experience and explore an Oriental philosophy in the way it was intended: Martial arts as it was meant to be. | Renshi Allen holds a third degree black belt in this style, the highest rank yet awarded by his teacher who has been teaching for forty years.
